Winds of change in Brazil

With continental dimensions being as vast as they are, Brazil is a country of great contrasts. Liebherr has been dealing with this diversity since its establishment there in 1974 and gathered much experience in different branches of industry in the meantime. The rise of the wind industry after the economic crises of 2014 opened new horizons with the country offering excellent wind quality to power wind turbines. Brazil's growing industrial activity and residential consumption also played an important role in encouraging wind generation. With local production of wind turbines becoming a necessary precondition on top, Liebherr saw its chance to open a new chapter in Latin America.

Read more on how it all began, what Liebherr has initiated so far in Brazil, and how our local team is coping with the current challenges.

We “drive” the world's highest turntable ladders

Working at heights does not only require strong nerves, but also highly reliable equipment. Therefore, the manufacturers of special vehicles pay particular attention to precision and accuracy. Precise positioning and stability are crucial for personal as well as operational safety. This is exactly where Liebherr slewing drives come into play.

In free motion with Liebherr servo cylinders

Liebherr Components provides servo cylinders for a 6DoF rig to test industrial components. 6DoF stands for “six degrees of freedom” and refers to the freedom of movement of a rigid body in three-dimensional space.

How does that exactly work? A 6DoF rig is a spatial motion machine, in which six servo cylinders act as linear actuators to drive it. They combine high velocities with relatively short stroke lengths. This allows high stroke frequencies of several extracts and retracts per second.

Upon testing, for example, aerospace components are set into vibration for a certain period of time, ranging from a few hours up to several months. In this way, their durability can be verified reliably.

Strong together, successful together

At Liebherr, we always support each other, particularly at such challenging times as these. One vivid example of such assistance is the employee exchange between two Liebherr production sites. Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg GmbH and the Liebherr Components Division on site in Deggendorf (Germany) join their forces to avoid production bottlenecks on the one side, and short-time work on the other.

Read more on how exactly it is all happening, and what experience the employees are gaining from such an exchange.

New generation G9620 gas engine to power your growth

Thanks to the acquired field experience, our engineering team has enhanced the original engine version of the G9620. Extensive tests have not only been carried out on the test benches at our production site in Bulle (Switzerland), but also at a partnering plant - the company Gruyère Energie SA (GESA).

“We have reached the threshold of 25,000 operating hours in the field located solely 100 meters away from our Liebherr site in Bulle”, explains Alejandro Held, Sales Director Power Generation at Liebherr-Components AG. As a result, the engine shows excellent results in terms of durability and efficiency and is now ready for series production and sales. Read more about our particular collaboration with GESA and what experience and results have been gained thereof.
