General information

The appliance designation can be found on the appliance serial tag. The serial tag is located on the inside left of the appliance in the case of freestanding and fully integrated appliances, and on the outside right of chest freezers. More information and a detailed drawing of the serial tag can be found on our website:

The 9-digit service number is located on the appliance serial tag (second Line on the serial tag). The serial tag is located on the inside left of the appliance in the case of freestanding and fully integrated appliances, and on the outside right of chest freezers.

More information about serial tags can be found on our website: Liebherr appliances serial tag

Liebherr uses the measurement method according to ISO 62552 to determine energy consumption.

To ensure that a fridge or freezer always runs optimally everywhere, there is the indication of the climate class. This can be found on the serial tag and provides information on the ambient temperatures under which a appliance can ideally be used.

These can be, for example:

SN from +10 °C to +32 °C

N from +16 °C to +32 °C

ST from +16 °C to +38 °C

T from +16 °C to +43 °C

If your appliance has been labelled climate class SN-T, the appliance can be operated at ambient temperatures from +10 °C to +43 °C.

More information on climate classes can be found on our Liebherr-Hausgeräte blog:
‘What does the climate class mean on a fridge’.

The indication ‘Storage time in case of fault’ indicates the number of hours until the temperature of the frozen food rises from –18 °C to –9 °C in case of an appliance fault.

From –9 °C upwards, this is a critical value beyond which food should no longer be consumed.

Transport, installation, and location

  • In the case of door-on-door installation, the furniture door is not connected to the body of the furniture and is mounted directly onto the fridge door with the installation aid. The weight of the furniture door is therefore borne by the fridge door. The usable recess width of the furniture is not reduced by the furniture hinges. In this regard, we recommend our training video on Youtube.
  • In the case of the door slider assembly, the furniture door is attached directly to the tall cupboard by means of the furniture hinge. The furniture door is connected to the fridge door via a slide-rail system. When the furniture door is opened, the fridge door slides open on the rail system. In this regard, we recommend our Training video on Youtube.

It is possible to convert from a door slider to a door-on-door installation.

Liebherr-Hausgeräte generally recommends that Liebherr fridges and freezers should only be transported in an upright position. This is because the compressor mounting can be damaged by vibrations when the appliance is transported lying down.

If the appliance nevertheless arrives at your premises lying down and you discover after commissioning that the appliance has been damaged, please contact our Repair service immediately.

You can put your Liebherr appliance into operation as soon as it has been set up. There is no waiting time.

If the ambient temperature is below +10 °C, proper functioning of the appliance is no longer guaranteed. In general, the appliances should always be operated within the climate classes.

For more information on ambient temperatures, see our article about climate classes on the Liebherr-Hausgeräte blog:

‘What does the climate class mean on a fridge’.

Liebherr appliances with a plumbed-in connection can also be put into operation without the plumbed-in connection being connected. You can also just switch off the IceMaker. In which event, you do not need to disconnect the appliance from the plumbed-in connection.

Faults, errors and system messages

Basically, the temperature in the fridge or freezer will always depend on what and how much you have stored in it.

The following factors can also influence the temperature:

- Too cold / too warm: Check the temperature set. If the appliance is mechanically controlled, please see the operating instructions.

- Too warm: The door of the appliance is not properly closed.

- Too warm: Ventilation and air extraction are not working adequately.

- Too warm: The ambient temperature does not correspond to the specified climate class.

- Too warm: The appliance door has been opened too often or for too long.

- Too warm: Large quantities of fresh food were placed in the appliance without first activating SuperCool/SuperFrost.

- Too warm: The appliance is too close to a heat source.

- Too cold: The SuperCool/SuperFrost function was inadvertently activated (Only applies to appliances with the SuperCool and SuperFrost function)

The operating instructions provide additional information on setting the temperature.

If none of the items listed above assist you, please contact Liebherr customer service as soon as possible.

The BioFresh drawer normally has a temperature of just above 0 °C. If this deviates, the setting may have been changed. You can find more information on setting the temperature in BioFresh appliances in the operating instructions

Water droplets on the rear wall in the interior are function-related and completely normal. The appliance is in the defrosting process when this occurs. Water droplets that settle on the rear wall are channelled into the defrost water evaporation tray via the defrost water gutter. Please ensure that the defrost water is able to drain unhindered through the opening of the defrost gutter on the rear wall.

Please refer to the operating instructions for further information

The switch-on frequency and running time of a fridge or freezer will vary greatly depending on the model. Typically, the running time of energy-saving models is longer and yet the energy consumption is lower. For example, appliances with speed-controlled compressors switch to a lower speed when the refrigeration demand is low. Although this increases the running time, energy is still saved. Please refer to the operating instructions for more information on this topic

This varies depending on the model. Please refer to your operating instructions for the precise details.

Fridges and freezers generate noises that are of a technical nature and cannot be avoided. These include, for example, compressor operating noises, fan noises, flow or injection noises. Noises such as humming, hissing, bubbling, gurgling cannot be avoided entirely and are nothing to be concerned about. You can find more information on this topic in the operating instructions

Liebherr models with a speed-controlled compressor are equipped with a flashing in-operation indicator light.

Please note the following:

  • The indicator light flashes every 15 seconds: Your appliance is in operation, which means that everything is fine.
  • The indicator light flashes at a different interval: Your appliance is in emergency mode or defective. In this case, please inform your Liebherr customer service.

This may be due to several reasons:

  • The appliance is not switched on.
  • The door of your appliance was not closed properly and this caused the interior light to switch off after 15 minutes.
  • The door magnet is missing and this causes the door closing not being detected. The interior light is switched off after 15 minutes
  • The interior light is defective. Please replace it as described in the operating instructions (except for LED lighting).

Care and maintenance

We recommend cleaning door seals with clean water only. You can add a little washing-up liquid to the water to remove stubborn dirt.

We recommend using only our cleaners for all Liebherr stainless steel appliances. Clean your stainless steel appliance with our stainless steel cleaner and then polish it with the stainless steel polish. You can order these products directly from our Spare Parts Sales.

These products must not be used on SmartSteel fronts. We recommend cleaning with a damp cloth and immediately wiping dry with a cotton cloth. More information on cleaning fridges can be found on our Liebherr-Hausgeräte blog:

‘This is how to clean your fridge perfectly’.

Functions

HolidayMode regulates the cooling temperature of appliance with and without BioFresh to approx. +15 °C. This saves energy, for example, when you are away for longer periods, and prevents unpleasant odours from developing. In appliances with freezing function, the freezer compartment temperature remains as set. We recommend that you do not store food in the fridge while the HolidayMode is in operation.

The SuperCool function lowers the cooling temperature to the lowest cooling temperature (+2 °C) for up to 12 hours. This function is ideal for quickly cooling freshly stored food.

The SuperFrost function in Liebherr appliances quickly lowers the temperature to the coldest freezing temperature (–32 °C), creating cold reserves for vitamin-preserving freezing. The SuperFrost function returns to normal mode as soon as the freezing process is complete, after 65 hours at the most, and accordingly helps to save electricity.

A child lock in Liebherr appliances prevents the appliance from being switched off accidentally. You activate the child lock by pressing the key symbol. When active, this lights up on the integrated display in the appliance.

Storing food

Low humidity and a temperature just above freezing are ideal for storing meat, fish, and dairy products. Liebherr’s BioFresh-DrySafe keeps this climate consistently available at all times and creates a dry environment that is ideal for this type of food.
You can find out more about BioFresh from our BioFresh Special.

Fruit and vegetables are best kept unpackaged in the BioFresh HydroSafe. If it is well filled, the climate is dewy fresh with a maximum humidity of 90 per cent. This is because fruit and vegetables naturally have a high water content and this needs to be maintained during storage. The high humidity and temperatures of almost 0 °C in the HydroSafe mean that the water stays in the food – and it stays crisp and fresh for longer.
