Liebherr to Overhaul Air Conditioning Systems for Paris Tramways

Liebherr-Transportation Systems has been selected by the RATP Group (Régie autonome des transports Parisiens) to overhaul and repair 284 heating-, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) systems for Paris tramways. The review and maintenance work will be carried out in Liebherr’s new repair shop in the North of Paris until December 2021.

RATP, the state-owned Parisian company that operates one of the largest city urban and suburban networks in the world, has awarded Liebherr a contract to provide preventive maintenance and associated spare parts for 118 saloon and 166 driver’s cab HVAC units. The third-party design systems on board Parisian tramways run with vapor cycle technology and use the refrigerant R134a.

Eléonor Borrallo-Gautier, Head of the French Site of Liebherr-Transportation Systems, commented the contract award: “The adaptability of our service organization in Paris was one of the determining factors for this new agreement. We will carry out the repairs and maintenance in our new workshop in the north of Paris, that we have established especially for this purpose. We have put in place a large stock of spares parts at this facility which permits us to deliver reliably on time and to have the requested amount of units and spare parts available for our customer RATP. We thank RATP for their trust and confidence in our capabilities and hope that this contract marks the beginning of a long-term partnership.”

"With this new partnership, we have been able to combine the expertise of RATP and the experience of Liebherr. This contract will allow us to guarantee an optimum level of quality of service for travelers ”, said Gaël Teixeira Cardoso, Head of Rolling Stock at RATP’s Ateliers de Championnet in Paris.
