The role of a Product Specialist contributes to the success of Liebherr – Great Britain Ltd through a focus on the strategic sales development of tracked excavators across production, quarry and demolition sectors in the UK market. A strong technical acumen is required to ensure the USP’s of Liebherr excavators are communicated effectively to customers and to support the UK sales team to ensure the excavator market share is achieved in line with annual sales forecasts whilst working within the Company’s key result areas; Business Performance, Customer Focus, People and Teamwork, Leadership.
Responsibilities of a Product Specialist:
• Develops Key Accounts within the Quarrying, & Demolition sector and support Liebherr global Key Account customers in the UK.
• Provides technical expertise and product knowledge to customers and LGB sales force.
• Identifies and attends relevant tradeshow and association groups affiliated with product group and application.
• Seeks sales opportunities with end-customers and coordinates sales efforts with LGB sales force.
• To support the UK sales team to ensure the excavator market share is achieved in line with annual sales forecasts
• To guide, mentor and motivate the UK sales team to ensure Company goals are met
• Prepares quotes for specialized machines and standard machines and attachments in LIAS.
• Collects and maintains competitive pricing data and product information on all major competitors.
• Manages the development of training programs to maximize product knowledge of LGB sales force to achieve increased market share across the product range.
• Develops with marketing department product literature, marketing materials and trade show/event/association.
• Identifies product improvements and configurations for equipment in varying applications in the UK market.
• Partners and collaborates with the factory to undertake market studies for the future development of the product line.
• Uses market intelligence to create and present growth plan to increase market share.
• Maintains all customer contact visits into the customer retention management database.
• Manages ongoing communication to the respective department regarding product support problems and recommended solutions.
• Answers Factory inquiries in a timely manner.
• Responsible for reporting to upper-level management (LFR/LGB) with progress reports on a regular basis.
• Prepares and follows up on quotations and tenders.
• Works closely with After Sales team, especially in respect of service contracts, repair and maintenance contracts, etc.
• Works closely with the sales office organisation and other departments to maximise productivity and reduce costs.
• Attend exhibitions as required.
• Extensive travel both in the UK and overseas as required.

• Able to demonstrate previous experience in a similar role
• Relevant technical qualification suitable for the role
