Crane fleet in Hamburg

Ten Liebherr EC-B series tower cranes are currently working on the so-called "Mitte Altona" in Hamburg. Around 1600 new apartments are being built in the first phase, rising to a total of around 3500.

Teamwork by ten EC-B cranes in Hamburg

In total, ten Liebherr tower cranes operated by four different building contractors are working on this project. With hook heights of 34.30 to 54.10 metres and maximum radii of 22.50 to 40.0 metres, they cover the large construction site perfectly without getting in each other's way whilst slewing – one of the main benefits of flat-top EC-B cranes.

These cranes also feature a fast, simple assembly process. For example, the compact head can be transported in conventional trucks and assembled by a single mobile crane hoist. The driving units developed and manufactured in-house by Liebherr ensure that the cranes perform with total reliability.

The plans for the new district in the centre of the city include a school, day-care centres for children, small shops, restaurants, a park and much more. The Hamburg town planners have attached particular value to accessibility there. In addition, the modern district will be essentially car-free.
