Wind Energy On- or Offshore
Wherever there is a breeze

Wherever there is a breeze - LR crawler cranes install the turbines

Green energy, energy revolution or the exit from nuclear and fossil-fuel energy – however you call it, wind power is helping all of us in the 21st century to ensure we have enough energy to power cars, fridges, heating, households, traffic lights or trains. But the installation of wind turbines is not that easy.

Quite often the right wind is where the ground is hard to reach - if there is ground at all. This is where our LR crawler cranes come in handy, at onshore installations or mountainous areas, flat lands or even offshore sites. In our range of crawler cranes there is a model for every task in the wind industry.

Near-shore wind farm on the Ijsselmeer

For around one year the IJsselmeer (Lake IJssel) in the north of the Netherlands was the scene of an unusual job for a LR 11350. The crawler crane erected the complete "Westermeerwind" wind farm from a massive jack-up platform. Crane contractor Mammoet completed 48 Siemens wind turbines with a hub height of 95 metres...

Proven technology further developed

More mobility and increased lifting capacity – this is how we have enlarged the concept of the LR 1750 to the LG 1750.

Featuring the upper carriage from the crawler crane, the LG possesses the under carriage of a mobile crane – based on eight axles.

Increasing safety in wind applications

The blades on the latest generation of wind turbines are nowadays installed individually using rotor blade yokes. Liebherr has developed a system for this future-oriented application, which makes the installation process safer, more economical and in many cases also greener – the SLGS single-line guiding system.
