A vacancy has arisen within our SQE department based in Biggleswade for a Safety and Environmental Manager.
The role contributes to the success of Liebherr-Great Britain Ltd working at the Biggleswade site. As the Safety and Environmental Manager, you will play a crucial role in driving success through promoting safe and environmental good practice. Not only will you ensure outstanding customer service, you will also contribute to our company's key result areas, driving business performance, customer focus, teamwork and leadership.
To ensure compliance with the Company’s SQE Business Management System & Processes.
Your Responsibilities as a Safety and Environmental Manager:
- To promote effective and safe practices and controls throughout the engineering workshop and yard operations at the Biggleswade site.
- Work to ensure continual improvements with management systems and processes and promote good practice
- Assist to develop Safe Systems of Work in all areas
- Support in carrying out accident investigations
- Ensure work equipment is compliant and fit for purpose
- Provide guidance on hazard identification and ensure risk assessments are completed and effective as required.
- Manage the control of contractors on site – ensuring RAMS and PTW are reviewed and completed by the relevant departments.
- To be at the forefront of all environmental good practice and support the business to achieve its environmental objectives.
- Carry out company inductions and safety training as required.
- Assist and advise safety and environmental champions/safety committees.
- Assist in waste management control.
- Co-ordinate and conduct structured operational management audits and inspections.
- Conduct safety & environmental site audits and develop subsequent improvement plans.
- Any other duty as required by management commensurate with the post.
Your profile to be successful in the Safety and Environmental Manager role:
The successful candidate will require the following:
- Formal Safety Qualification - NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
- Good communicator at all levels
- Flexible approach to work & capable of reacting to emergency situations
- Capable of working independently or as part of a team
- Good environmental awareness
- Confident working in a high-risk environment
- Confident working in an engineering workshop environment
