INTUSI: Intuitive operating concept for a new age of communication

  • INTUSI is the key to the Internet of Things for machines
  • High degree of customisation in overall operation
  • Innovative, adaptive, intuitive operating concept

It is the key to the Internet of Things for Liebherr construction and material handling machines: the innovative, adaptive INTUSI concept. First presented at Bauma 2019 and continuously developed, Liebherr is showing INTUSI for the first time directly on selected construction machines at Bauma 2025. With a high degree of customisation, it offers drivers the option of personalising the overall operation of the corresponding machine. In this way, INTUSI creates an intuitive user experience that takes efficiency and comfort to a new level. INTUSI is an abbreviation for intuitive user interface and combines intelligent operating logic with sophisticated machine intelligence. Liebherr has created a modern control environment for this purpose.

Liebherr is showing the innovative, adaptive operating concept INTUSI on selected machines at Bauma 2025.

Kirchdorf an der Iller (Germany), 18 February 2025 - In the course of digitalisation, the construction site is increasingly becoming a logistical environment in which people and machines, as well as a wide variety of machines, exchange information with each other. The change from simply operating a machine to communicating between the operator and the machine has continued steadily over the last few years. The functionalities from the networked world of the construction site 4.0 have become increasingly important.

With this in mind, Liebherr has further developed and refined the INTUSI, which was introduced in 2019. Now, Liebherr is providing machine operators with the innovative, adaptive and intuitive INTUSI operating concept, which is based on Liebherr's usual clarity and comprehensible overall logic. The basis for efficient machine use is well-thought-out support for the machine operator with the appropriate functionalities. To achieve this, Liebherr networks the control system with the machine's intelligence.

Intuitive, modern and convenient operating environment

INTUSI organises the various function categories into apps by topic or situation, in a way that is reminiscent of operating a smartphone. This enables drivers to continue to work safely and comfortably with the growing number of functions. The new operating concept offers a high degree of individuality for the driver: the arrangement of the functions can be individually adapted and stored in the respective driver profile. This means that higher-level functions can be stored for direct access. With the newly created user interface, these can be operated directly for the individually defined, priority functions, which provides additional convenience.

A clear screen and easy operation ensure safety and comfort

The clearly designed start screen also displays a high-resolution image of the working environment. At the same time, the individually stored functions and apps with which INTUSI makes it easier for the driver to control the machine can be seen in the margin. The force-sensitive touch with haptic user feedback ensures optimised usability. Clicking on the respective application opens the associated adjustments, allowing the machine operator to create a safe and comfortable working environment. For example, the so-called ‘Quick Coupling Process’ allows the safe replacement of attachments in three steps. INTUSI displays the corresponding steps and provides immediate feedback as to whether the attachment has been correctly installed. The lighting can be adjusted via an app, and the windscreen wipers and air conditioning can also be individually controlled.

The intelligent machine supports the machine operator

All functions can be selected via a separate main menu. This means that the machine operator has quick and direct access to the ancillary controls that are immediately required for his current task as soon as he activates the master control element on the joystick or in the console. The respective widgets can also be accessed by directly selecting the corresponding function group on the display. To enable short operating paths for the operator, Liebherr has thoroughly studied typical interaction patterns and incorporated them into the underlying logic. At the same time, the start screen always displays all feedback on the overall machine status. This provides the operator with an overview of the most important characteristic values at all times and enables a quick response in the event of any deviations.
