By leveraging aerospace-inspired technology, Liebherr’s systems optimize lateral positioning, yaw damping, and active radius steering. These functions reduce maintenance needs, extend component life, and enhance the overall efficiency of rail operations.

Liebherr’s controlled axle steering (LiCAS) system is a groundbreaking innovation that minimizes wear on rails and wheels while enhancing stability and control. By reducing vibrations and noise levels, it improves safety, passenger comfort, and the longevity of rail infrastructure, contributing to resource conservation. LiCAS underwent successful field testing in collaboration with British railroad company Grand Central (part of the Arriva Group) and NewRail, the rail transport research center at Newcastle University.
