<p>Vibro-replacement is used to improve cohesive soil types. Thereby, coarse extraneous material is filled into the vibrating hopper and a load-bearing gravel or crushed stone column is produced. If the crushed stone columns are arranged in a grid the building ground can be improved area-wide.</p>

<h2>Procedure for the production of vibro-replacement columns with top vibrator</h2>

<p>1. Positioning the casing at the column point</p><p>2. Vibrating the casing down to the final depth, thereby pre-compacting the soil</p><p>3. After reaching the final depth, inserting the fill material into the receiver hopper and starting  compaction</p><p>4. As the column is compacted,  staged extraction of the casing, filling the cavity with fill material</p><p>5. Re-penetrating the casing to compact the fill material</p><p>6. Completed  vibro-replacement column</p>

<h3>Procedure for vibro-replacement with dry bottom feed vibroflot</h3>

<p>1. Positioning the dry bottom feed vibroflot at the compaction point </p><p>2. Penetration of the dry bottom feed vibroflot with compressed air feed, thus pre-compaction of the soil</p><p>3. After the final depth has been reached, filling with fill material into the fill hopper and starting  compaction</p><p>4. During replacement, staged extraction of the vibroflot and filling of the cavity with fill material</p><p>5. Re-penetration of the vibroflot to compact the fill material</p><p>6. Completed  vibro-replacement column</p>

<h3>Foundation concept</h3>

<p>Filling with extraneous material with subsequent stuffing creates a load-bearing gravel column with a greater strength than the untreated ground.</p>

<h3>Dry process with material addition</h3>

<p>The so-called bottom feed vibrator which penetrates a fine grained, non-compactable soil is fitted with a device for addition of material.</p>

<h3>Installation with compressed air</h3>

<p>Vibration is carried out under addition of compressed air emerging at the vibrator tip and supporting the vacated space.</p>

<h3>Addition of extraneous material</h3>

<p>After the final depth has been reached the vibrator is systematically hoisted. Gravel or crushed stone are filled in through the material feeder and emerge at the vibrator tip under addition of compressed air.</p>

<h3>Vibro-replacement</h3>

<p>Repeated lowering of the vibrator compacts the added material. Moreover, it is densely pressed and/or stuffed into the adjacent soil.</p>

<h3>Vibro-replacement column</h3>

<p>Alternating hoisting and lowering of the vibrator combined with batch filling with material produces a so-called vibro-replacement column.</p>

<h3>Range of applications</h3>

<p>Smaller groups of columns result in a selected soil improvement. An area-wide improvement with extensive column grids is applied, for example, under dams or foundation plates.</p>
