Mercer Torgau, formerly known as HIT-Holz, is Europe's largest manufacturer of Euro pallets and one of the most important sawmill locations in Germany. With around 800 employees and an operating area of 100 hectares, the company relies on a unique and sustainable concept: the complete utilisation of wood as a raw material. From the tree trunk to the smallest chip, everything is utilised - be it to produce pallets, wood pellets, briquettes or for CO2-neutral energy generation in our own bio-power plants.

This sustainable approach is achieved using state-of-the-art technologies that enable precise processing and maximum utilisation of resources. Mercer Torgau not only stands for high-quality products, but also for the sustainable and responsible use of wood as a raw material.

To meet the high demands of wood processing, the company employs reliable, versatile and efficient machines. Liebherr timber handlers were chosen because of their reliability, efficiency and ease of operation. A demonstration of the LH 35 Timber made such a strong impression at Mercer Torgau that the entire fleet of timber handling machines was converted to Liebherr within two years . Today the fleet comprises four LH 26 Timber, six LH 35 Timber and one LH 50 Timber with log trailer, which meet the company's highly demanding 24-hour operation.

To the log loaders

Here you will find all further details of the Timber machines

The machines' daily tasks include loading and unloading the log lorries, feeding the log yards and feeding the material to the chipper lines. These work processes must run smoothly to ensure productivity. Mercer Torgau relies on maximum efficiency and minimum downtimes. The machinery must have a high load-bearing capacity and work flexibly and reliably.

Liebherr timber handlers are characterised by high performance, efficiency and mobility, with the drive and undercarriage specially designed to cover significant distances throughout their working day. Thanks to the four-wheel steering, the Timber models offer excellent manoeuvrability, while the rigid cab elevation provides first-class all-round visibility.

The compact LH 26 M Timber impresses with its manoeuvrability, which makes it ideal for use in sawmills and wood processing companies where space is limited. Despite maximum power, the machine also scores with remarkably low fuel consumption. With the LH 35 M Timber, Mercer Torgau has a true all-round talent for timber handling. Powered by a 150 kW / 204 hp engine, the machine combines high performance with efficient fuel consumption. Both models are equipped with GMH 40 wood grabs which have a capacity of 1.3 m² to 1.9 m².

The LH 50 M Timber is specially designed for large-volumes, it offers a load capacity of up to 16 tonnes and a reach of eleven metres. It is fitted with a large heart-shaped GMH 50 wood grab with hold-down chain, which offers maximum efficiency in timber handling with a capacity of 2.2 m². The additional use of a log trailer increases the transport capacity and enables even more efficient processes.

Mercer Torgau highlights the versatility and reliability of Liebherr machines, which have proven themselves as all-rounders in various areas of the timber industry. In addition to their flexibility and mobility, the machines offer a high load capacity, making them ideal for transporting heavy loads on a daily basis. The ergonomically designed cab also offers machine operators the comfort they need for long working hours.
