Three new Liebherr mobile cranes for Schmidbauer – successful partnership has lasted for decades
- Schmidbauer modernising its fleet in the 5-axle class with two new cranes
- LTM 1060-3.1 stands out due to its high load capacities, long boom and compact dimensions
- Schmidbauer and Liebherr have a partnership dating back decades
Three new Liebherr mobile cranes were delivered to crane and heavy transport contractor Schmidbauer in November. The company is in the process of modernising its fleet in the five-axle class with one LTM 1100-5.2 and one LTM 1130-5.1. The most powerful three-axle crane on the market, an LTM 1060-3.1, has been added to the fleet in the lower load capacity range. All three new cranes will be stationed at the company's headquarters in Gräfelfing near Munich.
Crane and heavy transport contractor Schmidbauer relies on cranes which can be used quickly, flexibly and economically for a wide range of hoisting work. The Schmidbauer experts therefore decided to buy the Liebherr LTM 1060-3.1, LTM 1100-5.2 and LTM 1130-5.1 mobile cranes. All three cranes offer high load capacities with both full and part ballast. The ballast which can be carried within their 12-tonne axle load enables the cranes to perform a whole host of jobs. Short set-up times mean that Liebherr telescopic mobile cranes are quickly ready for action.
"We were persuaded by the LTM 1060-3.1 due to its 48-metre telescopic boom and high load capacities. What is more is that its compact dimensions means that it is ideal for use in the very constricted conditions to be found in the City of Munich", is how company founder Werner Schmidbauer explains his decision to purchase the 3-axle model. The new crane from Liebherr was first unveiled in April 2013 and is the most powerful three-axle crane on the market.
"We have a good partnership with Liebherr for decades. We have grown up together", says Werner Schmidbauer. He is convinced by the overall package of the Liebherr crane, particularly the service and the spare parts availability. The Liebherr plant in Ehingen guarantees the delivery of over 95% of all ordered parts within 24 hours using its smart spare parts logistics system.
The Schmidbauer Group has 80 years of experience in handling very heavy loads. The company's head office is in Gräfelfing near Munich and Schmidbauer has another 20 sites throughout Germany. Currently the company has a workforce of 500. The fleet consists of over 250 mobile cranes and 150 heavy transport units.
