Liebherr R 946 Crawler Excavator at the MaskinExpo 2014
- The R 946 achieves higher productivity and increased fuel efficiency than the previous model R 944 C
- Fast and smooth operating movements ensured by integrated excavator system technology
- LC-V undercarriage facilitates transportation and guarantees optimal stability on jobsites
The R 946 excavator exhibited at the MaskinExpo 2014 is equipped with a 6.45 m mono boom and a 3.3 m long dipper stick. The machine is powered by a Liebherr diesel engine that complies with the current stage IIIB / Tier 4i emission limits. This 6-cylinder engine develops 200 kW (272 hp) at 1,800 min−1.
Compared with the previous model R 944 C, the R 946 achieves higher productivity and at the same time increased fuel efficiency. This has been made possible by optimised interaction between hydraulic and electronic components. Special importance is attached to the integrated excavator system technology, which is incorporated into all machines of the latest crawler excavator generation, and ensures fast, smooth operating movements.
The R 946 excavator has a robust steel structure that ensures absolute reliability even in very arduous working conditions. The new developed LC-V undercarriage facilitates the transportation of the crawler excavator and guarantees optimal stability on the jobsites. This type of undercarriage is already available for the larger crawler excavators and now is ready for the R 936 and the R 946, too.The exhibit in Stockholm is the first R 946 on market that has been produced with a LC-V undercarriage.
The R 946 features a revised maintenance concept that reduces the daily maintenance duration and thus increases machine availability. Maintenance points are easy to reach, and the R 946’s standard specification includes fully automatic central lubrication.
The cabin of the R 946, a new concept of generous size, creates a pleasant sense of space. An air suspended operator seat and an ergonomic control layout assure maximum comfort. In terms of security, the roll over protective structure (ROPS) is integrated into the operators cab.
The large high-resolution 7-inch colour display can be used as a touch screen. Its resolution is suitable for video display and provides versatile possibilities for checking, adjusting and monitoring. This includes, for example, information on fuel consumption and the control unit for the standard automatic air conditioning. It provides 13 air outlets and ensures pleasant working conditions even in high temperature working conditions. The screen can also be used to display the image from the rear-view camera, which is also standard equipment.
