Liebherr mobile cranes in South Korea – new facility opens and crane premiere
- Liebherr opens new training and service centre in Korea
- Goryeo Crane Corporation takes delivery of the first LTM 1230-5.1 in Korea
- Samsung Heavy Equipment Ltd. purchases LTM 1095-5.1 and LTM 1300-6.2
Liebherr will deliver 25 new mobile cranes this year to South Korea, more units than ever before. The Asian country has also developed into a major market for MK mobile construction cranes. Liebherr opened a new training and service centre there in September to meet the growing demand for after-sales service.
Liebherr Mobile Cranes Korea Ltd. was founded as a subsidiary of Liebherr-Werk Ehingen GmbH in June 2002. It is responsible for the sales and service of Liebherr mobile and crawler cranes and has now also taken over this role for MK mobile construction cranes. Since the facilities for after-sales service were limited at the site in the east, not far from the capital Seoul, Liebherr has built a new training and service centre with warehousing areas for spare parts and cranes around 60 km to the south of Seoul and held a ceremony to mark its opening in September. Sophie Albrecht, a member of the Liebherr family, told customers in Korea the following in her speech at the opening ceremony: “Your confidence in our company and our products convinced us to invest in this new centre to improve our service even more and to be even more closely aligned with our Korean customers. Christoph Kleiner, Managing Director at Liebherr Werk Ehingen GmbH, added: “We want to keep up with the developments on the market, the crane population and the service requirements related to it. And we also want to improve the level of our partnership. We are not just a crane supplier, we supply solutions and want to provide you with the best possible support in your daily challenges.” The first Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1 mobile crane in Korea was handed over to its new owner during the event.
Goryeo Crane Corporation takes delivery of the first LTM 1230-5.1 in Korea
Sophie Albrecht, a member of the Liebherr family, Christoph Kleiner, Managing Director of Liebherr-Werk Ehingen GmbH, and Jeong-Yoon Kim, Manager of Liebherr Mobile Cranes Korea Ltd, handed over the LTM 1230-5.1 to Lee Se-Kyu, owner of Goryeo Crane during the ceremony held to mark the opening of the new Liebherr service centre. The 230-tonne crane will replace an LTM 1200-5.1 with a lifting capacity of 200 tonnes. Goryeo Crane, a crane rental company based in Busan in the south-east of Korea, already has ten Liebherr all-terrain cranes with lifting capacities between 60 and 500 tonnes in its fleet. They are used in the region around Busan, primarily on industrial and infrastructure building sites and for erecting tower cranes. The main criteria behind the decision to buy yet another Liebherr crane were innovative technologies such as VarioBallast® and VarioBase® and Liebherr’s reliable after-sales service in Korea.
Samsung Heavy Equipment Ltd. takes delivery of LTM 1095-5.1 and LTM 1300-6.1
Crane contractor Samsung Heavy Equipment Ltd. has once again bought mobile cranes from Liebherr. The company took delivery of an LTM 1095-5.1 and an LTM 1300-6.1 at the manufacturing plant in Ehingen in October. Samsung has already placed an order for the all-new LTM 1110-5.1, which will be delivered in mid-2020. The company, based in Ulsan in the south-east of Korea, has a total of 30 cranes, a large proportion of which are applied by Liebherr. Their lifting capacities range from 60 to 800 tonnes. The new mobile cranes will replace older machines, thus modernising Samsung’s fleet. The company names the progressive crane technology and good service as two of the main reasons behind the decision. For example, the variable support base from Liebherr delivers major benefits in view of the continuously rising safety requirements for crane work in Korea. Samsung’s main areas of operations include industrial construction and infrastructure projects as well as several large refineries in the Ulsan region.
