“Outstanding in its class” – Kuiphuis praises Liebherr LTC 1050-3.1
- Liebherr compact crane has impressed on several jobs involving restricted space
- Dutch crane contractor Kuiphuis Kraanverhuur is delighted with the concept of the LTC 1050-3.1
- Erection jib, VarioBase® and telescoping with a load are some of the positive features of the LTC 1050-3.1
Dutch company Kuiphuis Kraanverhuur BV confirms the total practicality of the Liebherr LTC 1050-3.1 compact crane. Multiple examples of jobs demonstrate how hoisting work can be carried out safely and efficiently even in extremely restricted conditions.
Bob Bruijsten, a Director at Kuiphuis, is convinced: “The LTC 1050-3.1 is outstanding in its class.” He has two of the compact 50 tonne cranes and is delighted by the concept on which they are based. “The erection jib on our LTC cranes is used almost every week,” he says and tells us about a job at a recycling contractor, Attero in Wilp. A 4.5 tonne digestate screen for composting purposes inside a building had to be replaced. As a result of the extremely tight space available, the outriggers on one side could not be extended at all, whilst on the other side they could only be extended by 25 percent. Even the telescopic boom had only minimal freedom of movement at the top and bottom. The crane operator completed the job brilliantly by securing the load on the hook traverse on the erection jib and telescoping it with fingertip control to the installation site.
“Our customers see the extensive benefits of the telescoping crane cab and the facility to telescope the boom with the load on the hook”, says Bob Bruijsten and thinks back to a job installing a staircase in the small town of Burgum in Friesland. In this case, too, the height restriction made the job a challenge as the concrete stairs had to be positioned in a covered outdoor section of a new sports hall. The short erection jib, shortened chain and telescoping with the load on the hook made the job child’s play for the LTC 1050-3.1.
The fact that the LTC 1050-3.1 certainly lives up to its description as a compact crane was also shown in the old town of Deventer. On this occasion, the VarioBase® variable support base paid dividends. The 50 tonne crane was positioned between brick houses with its outriggers extended just five percent on one side and eight percent on the other to complete the job for the customer there.
And in Lichtenvoorde, too, the compact all-rounder once again showed what it could do. Bob Bruijsten takes up the story: “The crane could not have been any larger for this job at a steel construction company as the access route was a very narrow. We also really needed the various drive programs for this job. We stow support plates and chocks in the crane’s combination crate. This made it easier, and above all safer, to set up the crane on its outriggers in these conditions.” The features of VarioBase® also came to the fore – greater safety and more lifting capacity with any support base.
Kuiphuis Kraanverhuur has a modern, wide-ranging fleet, including twenty telescopic mobile cranes, four compact cranes and 28 mobile cranes. It has around 100 employees at its seven outlets in the Netherlands and one in Germany. Kuiphuis was founded over 100 years ago.
