To support our new Liebherr AI Competence Center in Ulm, we are hiring a motivated data scientist with great interest in large language models (LLMs) and corresponding applications. Within the technical team of the AI Competence Center, we are leveraging LLMs to build solutions to improve and innovate work at Liebherr. We’re seeking a senior data scientist (m/w/d) with specialized expertise in LLMs and retrieval augmented generation (RAG) systems.

Your responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy LLM/RAG based solutions. The developed solutions will enhance operational efficiency, streamline task automation and equip employees with the skills to effectively utilize the technology
• Expand upon an established evaluation framework for RAG systems to quantify performance
• Stay up to date with the advancements and limitations of LLM/RAG systems in the industry and academia
• Prototype and evaluate new ideas with various existing LLMs and techniques to test strengths, weaknesses and understand their applicability within the Liebherr world
• Discuss and evaluate innovation opportunities for our products that leverage LLMs
• Have fun in an expert team full of creative and passionate people

Your qualifications

• M.Sc. in Computer Science or related technical field with a focus on Data Science, Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence
• Proficiency in LLM frameworks like Langchain to build RAG systems and in standard data science technology stack
• Prompt Engineering: Ability to design and structure prompts for LLMs  programmatically using APIs. Familiarity with common prompt engineering patterns
• Excellent programming skills (e.g. Python)
• High degree of motivation & ability to collaborate in a team
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills in German & English
